My name is Andrea and I work with couples and individuals in my psychotherapy practice. My call to practicing as a therapist is deeply rooted in my own healing journey, and first-hand experience of navigating the highs and lows of change as generated by crisis. I am committed to the sacredness of the therapy space and the unique opportunity it provides to discover ourselves in the presence of a caring and attentive other. I think that therapy is essentially at its strongest when the therapist works to understand the kinds of words, gestures, and energetic presence that will most allow each individual to feel safe enough to come home to themselves.

I hold a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, where I studied integral and mind-body approaches to therapy. I spent two years at the Integral Counseling Center at Pierce Street, completing graduate and postgraduate training in relational psychodynamic therapy. During that time I also trained in other attachment- and emotion-focused therapies. My ongoing study is in both psychoanalytic and somatic modalities which I am committed to integrating.

Prior to training as a therapist, I had a career in book publishing and subsequently dedicated several years to the study and teaching of yoga. Those experiences have left me with a love of language and respect for the body that continue to inform the way I approach psychotherapy, along with my commitment to contemplative practice and meditation.
